Feb. 10th

Today we will complete our warm ups within ten minutes, this warm up leads up to our new unit, Gridding. From looking at our sketches we can see that drawing correct proportions is really difficult. This is why we will be exploring the technique or gridding. Today we will be selecting an image in which to Grid.

If you are absent today, complete the warm up and bring on Tuesday. Today is an assembly schedule so we will just begin a few steps (you won't be far behind). Remember to hand me your sketchbook on Tuesday, for I am entering sketchbook grades in today.

Enjoy your three day weekend!!

Feb. 9th

Our warm up will be to use our prior knowledge of organic and geometric shapes and finding examples around the room. Once you have found something, sketch them in your sketchbook labeling which one is which. Today we will look at the intricate paper artist Peter Callesen as inspiration for us to finish our heart cut outs. Today we will be finishing up our first and second projects, for Friday we will begin something new.

Feb. 8th

Today we will be looking at Geometric versus Organic shapes. We will be writing down our own definitions of these because it will help us with our project. Today we will be cutting out hearts in the theme of valentines day. Once our heart shape is cut out, we will taking away as little as possible, just like in Elsa Mora's work. We will be completing two of these hearts, one geometric and one organic.

Feb. 7th

Today we will be finishing up yesterdays warm ups by shading in the value we see. For those who did this the day before, pick a new fruit at your table to sketch out and shade. We will briefly discuss form and how it differs from the past few days 'shape' topic, as well as look at Joe Fenton's mechanical pencil work. Click here for all the slides.  For the remainder of the class period we will continue working on our shape project.
